If you want to use a text from a website, you can use a browser with a reader mode (or an equivalent browser extension) to make selecting text (ctrl + a) easier.

Typing

This app is designed to help you practice your typing skills, but you may get the most out of it after you've learned the basics of touch typing.
If you are new to touch typing, here are some resources to help you get started:

WPM

Typing speed generally gets measured in words per minute (wpm). WPM is calculated by dividing the number of typed characters by five and then dividing that by the number of minutes. For example, if you type 100 characters in 1 minute, your wpm is 20.

Shortcuts

On macOS the alt key is called option.

Offline

This app works offline; after your first visit you can open and use it even without internet access.
If you decide you want to sync your progress, you can do so any time by signing up/in.
You can also install the app as a Chrome app, allowing you to use it like a local application, including the ability to add it to the desktop, etc. You can install it by clicking the install button in the settings.
After uninstalling the app, you may need to restart your computer for the install button to appear again. Installing an app doesn't work in incognito mode.

Privacy

This app collects anonymised usage statistics (Yay! Somebody has visited my site! 🥳) without collecting any private information using a self-hosted plausible.io instance. If you are interested, this dashboard is available here.
All other data is stored locally in your browser. If you sign up, your data will be synced to a Hetzner server located in Frankfurt, Germany, but you can also use the app without signing up, or you can delete your chapters, progress etc. from the server at any time.
